Blog Review: Left Foot Forward

In Uncategorized on November 26, 2009 at 7:30 pm

Right you lot, listen up. I’m bringing in a new feature designed to wider your blogging tastes. I know you’re all religious readers of this blog, but I think you should diversify. I’m going to do this at least once a month. The first blog up for review is Left Foot Forward.

Left Foot Forward is unlike most other blogs on the web. It is driven by hard evidence rather than conjecture. The witty commentary substantiated by statistics, statistics and more statistics makes for an excellent and interesting mix. Will Straw and Shamik Das are the two main contributors on the site. Both have a track record of blogging. Both have considerable style and talent.

The emphasis on evidence is what really distinguishes Left Foot Forward from other blogs that I have read on both the centre-left and right. The Left Foot Forward team have this uncanny ability to dispel myths perpetuated by right wing media.  Take for instance this article. Shamik uses hard statistics to disprove the notion that Britain’s doors are ‘wide open’ to migration. He does without any subjective rambling. This blog may be coming from a centre-left perspective, but those involved shy away from cheap political jibes. It is sharp and to the point, which is proving very successful for Left Foot Forward.

This blog is one that I consult every day. Its layout is accessible, its content short and substantiate and its tone professional. So ladies and gentlemen, for those of you who want facts and figures to back up for argument,  make sure you put Left Foot Forward to the top of your blog roll.
